Cigna Dental Coverage & Availability
Cigna and other dental insurers offer a wide range of coverage options, allowing patients to make elections to
receive benefits that fit their needs. The versatility of dental benefit plans is one of their many advantages.
However, the variety of plan options also makes it hard for us to provide accurate estimates of your coverage
until we have the opportunity to review your individual policy. Cigna plans typically provide 100% coverage for
dental checkups, teeth cleanings, and other preventive services. You’ll typically receive 70 to 80%
coverage for minor restorations like tooth-colored fillings. As restorative treatments become more complex,
you’ll receive a lower coverage percentage. For example, dental crowns are often only covered 50 to 70%.
We’ll make sure to review your policy and provide a specific treatment cost and dental insurance coverage
breakdown before we begin any dentistry services.
Another great thing about dental insurance plans is that they give you the freedom to go to almost any dentist
and still receive your plan benefits. However, out of network dentists have not agreed to your plan’s set
pricing maximums. This means they may charge more for a treatment than your Cigna plan covers, and you’ll
be responsible for the difference in price as well as your out of pocket treatment costs. Because we’re
in-network with your Cigna dental plan, you can rest assured that you only have to worry about the out of pocket
costs of your dental treatment and not a penny more.
