Why We Offer Sedation Dentistry
Many people feel extremely nervous or even scared about visiting the dentist, and this fact isn’t lost on Dr. Sadeghi and the team here at Royal Dental. If you or your child experience any kind of dental fear, we can use sedation dentistry to help it quickly go away. Dental anxiety can become a serious problem when it prevents patients from receiving the oral healthcare that they need. Unlike other medical conditions that get better with time, dental issues will only grow worse if left untreated, resulting in more extensive and expensive dental care. However, we can provide you with different types of sedation based on the severity of your dental fear.
Types of Sedation Dentistry
We offer two different types of sedation dentistry in East Dallas to ensure that all of our patients with dental fear have an option that works best for them:
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, better known as “laughing gas,” is a colorless, odorless gas, that when inhaled through a small nasal mask, helps a patient feel warm, happy, and even euphoric while in the dental chair. It’s perfect for adults and children alike who need just a little help to “take the edge off.” The best part is that we can use it during a wide-range of procedures. Whether you want it for a simple checkup or a restorative treatment, you can stay cool, calm, and collected while in our dental chair.
Oral Conscious Sedation
For patients who are more affected by dental anxiety, we can prescribe a pill to take about an hour before the appointment. That way, by the time they reach our office, they are already physically and mentally relaxed, and their visit will seem to fly by in an instant. This option leaves the patient with little to no memory of what happened, which most people with dental fear tend to like.
